FACING CHALLENGES WITH HOPE

Dear Parishioners,

As we journey through this Year of Hope, we find ourselves invited to reflect on the ways we can anchor our faith and trust in God amidst life’s challenges. This theme resonates deeply as our nation navigates the transitions and complexities of a new administration. Change, as many of us know, can bring both opportunities and challenges, but it is in these moments that our faith community truly shines.

One of our current challenges is understanding and adapting to the new policies and directions set forth by the government. These shifts affect many aspects of our lives, from social and economic policies to matters of justice and care for the vulnerable. While these changes may feel uncertain or even overwhelming at times, they also call us to reflect on our values and to respond with faith and hope.

This weekend we celebrate the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, a beautiful reminder of the light of Christ that shines in the darkness. As Simeon proclaimed when he held the infant Jesus, He is a light for revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of His people Israel. This feast invites us to carry that same light into the world, illuminating paths of hope, peace, and love for others. Please note, we will be using incense at all Masses this weekend.

In the spirit of hope, I invite you to see these challenges as opportunities for growth. Let us work together with patience and mutual understanding, knowing that every effort we make to advocate for justice and peace is part of something greater. God’s grace will guide us, just as it has sustained our nation through many generations.

As part of our parish’s mission to grow in faith and hope, I encourage you to consider joining the Light of the World Retreat from February 14 through 17. This retreat is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your relationship with Christ and discover the transformative power of His light in your life.

This Year of Hope is also a reminder that our trust is in God’s providence. No matter the obstacles, hope gives us the courage to press on and to envision a brighter future. Whether it is through prayer, acts of service, or engaging in constructive dialogue about the issues we face, we are called to be agents of hope in our communities.

I encourage you to participate in upcoming parish events that nurture this spirit of hope, such as the Annual Catholic Appeal weekend on February 22/23. This is a time when we can come together to support the larger mission of the Church and extend our love beyond the walls of our parish.

Let us keep one another in prayer as we move forward together. May the Year of Hope inspire us to face every challenge with faith and courage, knowing that God is always with us.

In Christ,

Fr. Wojciech Oleksy
